High 5: YouTube Channels

High 5 Y'all! We have made it to another Friday!!!!! I'm particularly happy to see this Friday, well I am happy to see any Friday, but I am ready for this weekend full of family photos and Girls Night!

Today we talk YouTube and 5 Top Channels that I am a fan of! Let's dive in!

The Nerdist Channel is one of the fastest and best ways to gather a sense of the Nerd community in a small amount of time. The Nerdist Channel has over a million subscribers that receive a mass amount of content to their YouTube Subscription feeds every day. Nerdist News runs Monday-Friday while shows like Nerdist Play & The Dan Cave are released Tuesdays & Wednesdays respectively. Nerdist is obviously one of my favorite podcasts and it is great to see some video content from them as well!

The Smithsonian Channel is fairly new to YouTube and has already garnered roughly 142,000 subscribers. Smithsonian Channel is great because the provide 100% family friendly materials in both short and full length format. They describe themselves as:

"19 museums. 9 international research centers. 168 million artifacts. One channel. Infinite stories.

Smithsonian Channel explores the history of our planet, life and culture, with 100% original, family-friendly programming. From the origins of the universe to the deaths of civilizations, from upscale design awards to down-home chili cook-offs, we tackle subjects as diverse and limitless as the landscape we cover.

We explore and celebrate the people, discoveries and achievements that define our country in a way that entertains, educates and inspires, bringing our American history to life - a story written by us, we the people."

I mean, how wonderful is that!?! Love, love, love this channel!!!

Crash Course is subscribed to by over 2 million YouTubers and contains eight courses in one simple channel. There are courses in world history, biology, literature, ecology, chemistry, US history, psychology, and a revamped world history course. This channel is really priceless to educators. I have used it countless times at the Gallery while teaching groups and encouraging them to grasp knowledge in a format that is familiar to them.  Ignacio Estrada once said "If a child can not learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." This channel does that in an amazing way...plus most of it is hilarious

How to Adult is a spinoff of the Green Brother's blogging adventures. This channel is dedicated to teaching everything you need to know as an adult that no amount of school could ever teach you. This channel has about 77,000 subscribers and makes content like: How to Drive a Manual Transmission! Living at Home? 6 Simple Ways to Make it Awesome! and How to Write a Resume...(like a Wizard!)

With roughly 547,000 subscribers watching this Houston native debunk makeup mysteries, offer beauty tutorials, and collaborate with other YouTubers for TAG's and her trademark LeighAnswers videos...I'll be honest...I feel like she is actually one of my friends. The ultimate in nerdy, I know. She makes me laugh, she is relatable, and I totally understand her respect her love of false lashes! LeighAnn is honest, quirky, and totally a chick I would hang out with. If you have a need in your life for a beauty guru, check this one out because she is my fav!!!

I hope you enjoy some of the content on these YouTube Channels! I hope you soak up every second of your weekend! Until next time, stay exceptionally chic & exquisitely geek!
