Fandom Exploration: Game of Thrones

Welcome back to Monday Fandom Exploration!!! Today we are talking Game of Thrones! So here are the basics:

-Game of Thrones is an HBO series created as an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R.R. Martin's series of fantasy novels, the first of which is titles Game of Thrones. HBO films this series in some of the most amazing locations in the world. They film in Belfast studio and on location in Northern Ireland, Malta, Scotland, Croatia, Iceland, the U.S., Spain, and Morocco.

-Game of Thrones is set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos. The story begins at the end of a 10 year summer and interweaves several plot lines. The first of which follow the members of several noble houses in a civil war for the Iron Throne of Seven Kingdoms. The second covers the rising threat of the impending winter and the mythical creatures of the North and finally, the third story lines the attempts of the exiled last scion's attempts to reclaim his throne. The series explores issues such as: crime, civil war, corruptions, loyalty, religion, social hierarchy.

- Game of Thrones has one of the largest casts and budgets in television history. The third season had 257 cast members. The reported cost for the pilot has been reported between 5 - 10 million US dollars. The total budget for first season 50 - 60 million and they requested a 15% budges increase for season 2 to account for "The War of the Five Kings."

-The show-runners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss intend to adapt the entirety of the still incomplete A Song of Ice and Fire novel series. They estimate it will take the roughly 8 seasons to do so and envisions the Series to have a scope of roughly 80 hours. As of this past April, six seasons have been ordered and four have been filmed.

If the projections work out properly, each page will receive roughly 0.8 minutes per page.

Game of Thrones has received a huge response from critics. It is widely followed fantasy show and can often be condemned for its violence and nudity. Let's just be clear, this is not a family oriented show. Game of Thrones is definitely an "after the kids go to bed, glass of wine" type of show."

So that wraps up this Fandom Exploration series! I have had so much fun writing this series and I would love suggestions for the next time we compete a Fandom Exploration Series.
