Library Lovers Month & Our Birthday

Creators Note: You will undoubtedly note that change in our website design. We hope you enjoy the new layout and find it more user friendly. This format should allow you to easily find blogs from the archives within the same subject matter. This February is our two year anniversary and we wanted to kick it off with a BIG change. We hope you enjoy!
- A2-D2 & Seven of Ten

February is a BIG month around here.

We are celebrating our second anniversary here at EG.

We are close to celebrating another "views" milestone.

& it is Library Lovers Month.

If there is one thing that I have let slack lately is my intake of the written word. I have been working so much lately and playing catch-up at home that I haven't really been able to take a moment for myself. I have always been a BIG reader, but I've been slacking recently. Library Lovers Month seems like the perfect time to hop back on board with my reading habits.

This month I decided to try something different and set a goal for myself.
Two books.

What's the catch? I want to invite you to read them with me, of course!

Two books over the next three and half weeks. We can all do that right?

What's the first book you ask?

Amazon, 14.40

If you haven't heard of this book, where have you been?

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • NATIONAL BOOK AWARD WINNER • NATIONAL BOOK CRITICS CIRCLE AWARD FINALIST • NAMED ONE OF THE TEN BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The New York Times Book Review • The Washington Post • People • Entertainment Weekly • Vogue • Los Angeles Times • Chicago Tribune • Newsday • Vulture • Library Journal • Publishers Weekly

Uh huh. You know.

This book explores the racial struggle of being black in today's America. I know what your thinking...

your a geeky white girl.

And Yes, I am. But that doesn't mean that I don't want to understand the struggle of today's African Americans in hopes of making our American more fair and equal for all. Heavy? Yep. But with election season looming I'd rather feel more educated and involved in issues that affecting today's America than hopeful that someone else will take control of it.

Secondly, we will be diving into a historical book. I am sure that many of you long time readers will remember when Seven of Ten confessed that she wasn't a big "historical" reader. She loves that Sci-Fi, but I think it's time to break her in!

But which one to choose!?! How about a vote!

"Hamilton" by Ron Chernow

Or "Lafayette in the Somewhat United States" by Sarah Vowell

For now, just Amazon Prime "Between the World & Me" and start reading when you get your book on Wednesday! I'll post a bonus "Book" blog on Saturday and again on Tuesday of next week!

See you again on Friday for a #5FanfomFriday! Until then and as always, stay exceptionally chic & exquisitely geek!

  1. Well, I can't promise to join you in the challenge (I have a lengthy reading list to get through already) but I'd love to see your reviews afterwards. Oh, and the new layout looks great :-)
