Paper Quilling

Lately I have been falling down the rabbit hole that is paper quilling...

I know, it is weird for me to say. Normally its the rabbit hole of Wikipedia, or DeviantArt, or YouTubers, but paper quilling. I am expanding my horizons.

Paper Quilling is the art of rolling narrow strips of paper into coils or scrolls and arranging them to form an elegant filigree...or Star Wars character.

One of the things that I find so fascinating about this art form is that it is so delicate in it's choice of materials. Yet, the pieces have such striking and powerful imagery. Using science fiction characters as your inspiration for this type of work is so brilliant. All of these creations make my heart swoon just a bit...

If there is one paper artist you need to know about in the crazy talented world of paper quilling it is Alia Syed.

You can follow her awesomeness on Instagram @alia_bright or her Etsy shop AliaDesign

  1. Paper quilling is so gorgeous. I don't know where people get the patience for it haha! We bought some paper quilled magnets at Boston Comic Con last year, and they are still one of my fave purchases!
